Timothy Swing, DMD
Dr. Swing, a native North Carolinian, has been practicing dentistry in his home state since 2008. Dr. Swing graduated from the University of North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Spanish before enrolling at Tufts University Dental School in Boston where he went on to graduate with a Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree.
Outside the office Dr Swing can be found exploring the great outdoors with his two daughters, passing on his Eagle Scout skills, or building doll houses out of cardboard boxes. His greatest hobby is searching for those rare unexhausted moments to converse with his lovely wife.
Dr Swing believes strongly in patient education; making sure each patient clearly understands their unique dental situation so they feel confident in making informed decisions about their own oral health and overall well-being. Dr. Swing takes great pride in building personal relationships with all his patients, while striving to provide the highest possible quality of care so that patients can enjoy their dental experience.

Your first visit
Your first appointment is vital to establishing a relationship of trust and comfort with our office. After meeting our friendly staff and turning in or filling out the necessary forms, you will have the opportunity to speak with us about any questions, concerns, or treatment desires that you have. We will then perform a comprehensive exam including digital x-rays, an oral cancer screening, and a full periodontal assessment to check for any signs of tooth decay or gum disease. If you have any treatment needs, the dentist will then discuss their findings before we review a detailed treatment plan with you. If you would like, there is also often time during the visit to clean your teeth or address a specific issue that is bothering you.
patient forms
Nobody likes paperwork, but the following forms are necessary so that we can safely and legally treat you. Information about our office policies and your rights as a patient regarding health information can be downloaded and viewed here: HIPAA Policies and Procedures
Please download the following forms, fill them out, and bring them with you to your first appointment. If you would prefer to fill them out in the office, please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time for paperwork: New Patient Packet
If you have any recent x-rays from your previous dentist, it is also very helpful to have them forwarded to our office. The easiest way to get this done is to call your previous provider and request that your recent records be emailed to us at info@briarchapeldentist.com. You can fill out the following form and provide it to your previous dental office: Records Release Form
Frequently asked questions
How much will my appointment cost?
The cost of your first visit depends on many factors including what treatment you are having completed, your insurance coverage (deductibles, co-pays, etc), if your previous dental x-rays are up to date and available, and more. Please give us a call if you would like to discuss your specific situation. We will always be upfront about any of the costs associated with your treatment and encourage you to ask questions any step of the way. We accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, and CareCredit as payment options and also offer payment plans for larger treatment or treatment requiring several appointments. As an office, we strive to provide excellent value for your dental dollar by avoiding over treatment and providing conservative, quality, patient-focused care that lasts.
What insurances do you take?
While we work with all major insurance plans, we are not In-Network with any specific insurance company. Our team will be happy to file your claims and take care of the paperwork for you. If you have questions about your insurance, please call the office and we will be glad to provide you with more information about your specific plan.
